Pehlwans is a series of photos that I took of wrestlers in Agra, India, a sacred place where the dead are cremated. We managed to get permission from their coach to take some shots for about ten minutes. I decided to focus more on bodies, the beauty of their intertwined muscles.
Pehlwan is a person that do Pehlwani or kusti that is a form of wrestling from South Asia. It was developed in the Mughal era by combining native malla-yuddha with influences from Persian koshti pahlavani. The words pehlwani and kusti derive from the Persian terms pahlavani and koshti respectively. (from wikipedia)
